KS2 English and Maths Expectations

English

Reading

  • In years 3-6, children are expected to read 3 times a week to an adult, who should sign their child’s reading record.
  • Reading records will be checked by the class teacher once a week, to ensure children have read.
  • Children will be rewarded for reading 3 times a week or more.

Spelling

  • Spelling is practised at school most days for a test at the end of the week. Lists will only be sent home for children to practise, if children are struggling with a particular spelling pattern. Children are encouraged to still practise spellings, even if they don’t have a list to learn.
