RSE Consultation

The Department for Education has announced changes to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). These changes, come into effect from the Summer Term 2021 and all schools will be obligated to comply with the updated requirements. This means, we have been in the process of reviewing our RHSE curriculum and policy so we can be sure our provision meets the Government criteria and is appropriate for our children based on their: Age. Physical and emotional maturity. Religious and cultural backgrounds. Special educational needs and/or disabilities, and what pupils need to know to be healthy and safe in school, in their personal relationships and in the wider world.

I would very much welcome your support and comment, and am pleased to provide a Parent and Carer Consultation period.

Here’s how you can help:

On this page  you will find:

·         A powerpoint presentation which includes information about the changes and our approach to teaching RHSE at St Barnabas

·         Our draft school policy for consultation

·         The Church of England Principles and Charter

·         Government Guidance on the teaching of RHSE

·         A Parents’ Guide

·         Curriculum Maps and Yearly Overviews

Please could you look at the school presentation and policy and return any comments or questions via the school office:  by midday on Friday 12th March. Any questions or comments will be kept and reviewed, with responses sent after this date. Alternatively if you require further information, you can make an appointment to see Miss Carr (RHSE leader) or Miss Hodgkinson (Headteacher) by contacting the school office as above.
