St. Barnabas Vision and Values

At St Barnabas we offer a warm and caring environment, rooted in Christian values and with a strong history of cultural diversity, where children thrive and are supported to become the best they can be. Our children have extremely high standards of behaviour and are very respectful of one another. We are highly inclusive, and our aim is that every child leaves our school as a happy and confident young person, with high aspirations and a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their life.

At St Barnabas we are committed to a policy of inclusion where every child is welcomed into our school and their needs are fully addressed. We provide a safe and caring environment for every pupil to thrive. Every child is known and encouraged to develop as an individual. Our approach to encouraging spiritual, moral, personal and academic development is at the very heart of our school.

St Barnabas CE Primary is an exciting and engaging place to be, with a very special, warm ethos that is recognised by all those who visit. Our school vision is ‘Preparing for a positive future, achieved through faith.’ Through this we support challenge and inspire our pupils to strive for excellence in everything that they do. We are committed to providing the very best education and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development for our pupils through a broad and enriched curriculum and a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities.

It is our highest priority to secure academic success whilst encouraging our pupils to become confident, independent, resilient life-long learners who show personal qualities of friendship, tolerance and respect. Through this approach we are committed to finding, unlocking, enhancing potential and unleashing talent. Our pupils are encouraged to have high aspirations and be the very best they can. We empower our pupils to make a positive difference to their own and the lives of others. Our pupils work extensively with many local and global charities and are actively involved in fundraising throughout the year. We have very strong links with St Barnabas Church and together we are at the centre of the local community.

Our curriculum encourages a thirst for knowledge in the pursuit of academic excellence whilst delivering a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils are appropriately supported and challenged and the content of lessons is interesting and lively. Lessons are carefully planned to match the needs and abilities of all pupils. We encourage pupils to work together in collaboration, but also to think independently, develop a positive attitude and a reflective, resilient approach to their learning.

We are passionate about offering a wide range of activities outside the classroom. Our enrichment activities are designed to stimulate interest, motivate and develop the talents of our pupils. Visits and visitors are an integral part of our curriculum offer designed to enhance the learning experience and foster interest and curiosity. As a Children’s University School, we offer an extensive range of After School clubs tailored to meet the needs and interests of our children. Year 2, 4 and 6 pupils participate in a residential visit each year. This compliments the curriculum offer and develops personal growth, confidence and self-esteem. All pupils have the opportunity to be actively involved in intra and inter school sports events as well as engaging with high quality arts experiences such as participation in music tuition, live performances and art exhibitions.
