Early Years Apprentice

Early Years Apprentice 42 hours per week (including time to complete the Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard), term time plus 5 inset days. The apprenticeship will last for 2 years.

The Head teacher and Governors of St Barnabas CE Primary School and Nursery are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Early Years Apprentice to join our team.

The successful candidate will join our fantastic team of early years practitioners and will be responsible for the care of young children, ensuring the educational, social, physical, emotional, health and welfare needs of the children are always met. You will work towards a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner qualification. The duration of this course will be 2 years.

What you will do in your working day:

·         Supporting or leading educational games and activities for children aged 2-4 years

·         Preparing the learning environment with resources and displays

·         Helping with trips and outings

·         Feeding and changing children

·         Observing and assessing children to help their learning

·         Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development

·         To keep children safe and follow safeguarding policies

·         To maintain a clean and safe environment

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard:

·         Level 3 Early Years Practitioner qualification

·         Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

·         End-Point Assessment (EPA)

·         Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

·         Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS

·         Blended on/off the job training and location to be confirmed

·         You will also undertake a Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Qualifications Required:

GCSE or equivalent English & Maths (Grade C/4/ Functional Skills Level 2) essential.

Pay Structure:

You will work 42 hours per week Term time- 39 weeks of the year and be paid the NMW for apprentices, currently £6.40 per hour for the first year but this will rise to £7.55 from April 2025. The rate of pay may increase according to your age in the second year.
