STAY AT HOME ~ PROTECT THE NHS ~ SAVE LIVES

Covid 19 Update 17th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,
As you’re probably aware, the government’s guidance on the coronavirus has changed from the
‘contain’ phase to one of delaying the spread of the virus. We’d like to reassure parents/carers and pupils, that
we are taking all of the necessary steps to protect our community and are continuing to follow the official
guidance from the government, Public Health England and the local authority.
The current situation:
• St Barnabas CE Primary School remains open – this is the current official guidance
from the government - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-toeducationalsettings-
about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19
• Pupils should attend unless they feel unwell – if your child has any of the following
symptoms they should remain at home for 14 days:
- a new, continuous cough and/or
- a temperature (37.8 or above)
• If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all
household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day
period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill -

• If your child is unwell, report this as you would normally by contacting school on 01925
633606. If your child is self-isolating then please contact school and we will provide work for the full period
during which they are absent from school and remain in close contact with you and your child to offer any
support you need.
What we are doing to protect students and staff
We prevent the spread of infection by following the general principles listed below:

  •  Everyone who enters the school building is required to wash their hands
  •  Everyone is required to wash hands regularly throughout the day
  •  All surfaces are cleaned and disinfected regularly throughout the day
  •  Visitors to school are restricted
  •  All trips and other events have been cancelled to minimise contact with others

If you have any questions please consult:
NHS, if you want to know more about the symptoms of coronavirus. If you think you or your child
may have the symptoms, use NHS 111 online if at all possible before calling 111.
We are here to support you and your family through this difficult time. Please contact school with
any concerns/queries.
Yours sincerely,
Miss J Hodgkinson
