Letter to Parents 14.05.2020

Dear Parents and families,

I hope you are all well and managing to keep yourselves safe.

Warrington schools have been working closely with the Local Authority to ensure there is a consistent approach to the proposed reopening of schools in June. I feel I must be clear that we are at the start of the planning stage and I may not be in a position to update you further until next week. We have a lot of work to do and still need additional guidance and reassurances from both central government and the local authority.

As you are aware, providing that the 5 key tests set out by the government are met, schools may reopen in a phased manner from the start of June. The first phase would see pupils from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 return to school. It is the government’s ambition that all primary school children will return to school for a month prior to the summer holidays.

The government guidance recognises the difficulties of 2 metre social distancing in a primary school. Like many schools we feel we need further clarification on this. In reality, strict social distancing is impossible to maintain in school particularly for our younger pupils. We will endeavour to do our best to keep children’s contact to a minimum, but it will not be possible to guarantee social distancing of your child. Further information can be found via this link:

There will be no consequences should you choose not to send your child to school; parents across England will not be fined. We fully respect parents’ decision on this matter.

Finally, I would like to say you have my support in any decisions you make and I value your input. The staff and I will also need your support moving forward as this is incredibly difficult for the school and my focus must be on the safety of all concerned. Thank you.

Kindest regards,

Miss J Hodgkinson
